JULIAN CROWE

About

The Street Life work often plays around the surreal interactions between people and inanimate things. Subjects are photographed going about their business completely oblivious that they're walking into and momentarily taking part in imaginary surrealistic scenes. They enter the frame from one side and exit the other none the wiser that they've just walked through the twilight zone. Click here for Street Life in Colour and here for Street Life in Monochrome.

For
Portraits available light is used to capture intensity, gravitas for a frank portrayal of each subject. Often in close-up, with eyes gazing straight at the camera, they offer a candid insight to each individual.

The Nude work is the antithesis of glamour photography with a kitchen sink ethic prevailing throughout. No sterile studio environments, bland studio flash lighting or back lit hairdo's. Prop's are sometimes used such as a lorry tyre, a chair or some other item to provide geometric form and texture as a counter point to the ever fascinating form of the human body. Click here for the
Colour Nudes and here for the Mono Nudes.

The
Exteriors section covers a wide range of subjet matter including traditional landscapes, cityscapes, architecture and more scenes of surreality.

The Assassin: She’s an ice cool, elegant and sophisticated seductress. She wears a skull ring on her trigger finger and she has a Praying Mantis tattoo on her ankle. She’s a modern day femme fatal and. . . a professional assassin.
